We have been involved with Career Connects since the first one three years ago. This year’s event had a special focus on Human Resources professionals and provided some very interesting content. It was our pleasure to be involved once again with this fine event. Kudos to the planning committee for a job well done!
As the event was winding down, the Long Center was coming alive for that night’s show. Austin is such a great place to live and work!

If you are managing an event with assigned seating (like a wedding) or with check-ins (like a fundraiser) then this article, How to Check In Guests at Events with Your iPad, on eventmanagerblog.com by Julius Solaris.

Hooray for Bollywood!
Bollywood Nights, presented by Room to Read Austin and hosted by Clay Pit enjoyed a large turnout and had a fantastic energy!
Thanks to the great auction items and generous donors, the event raised enough to build a library in India, which will support almost 350 boys and girls with colorful picture books published in their local language, educational games, and a safe, fun place to learn!
Room to Read offers special thanks to the following people:
- Bali Singh and the Clay Pit staff for their generous donation of the venue, delicious food, and 75% of the bar tab
- Mansi and Sargam dance studio for their performance and Bollywood lessons
- Nisha for amazing henna artwork
- Lori Luza from As You Wish Photography
- And our silent auction donors

The last event for the year, Beers for Books at Lavaca Street Bar is on October 29! Lavaca Street Bar will donate $1 for every beer purchased which buys 1 book for a child in need. More beer = more books! We’ll have a Mack Brown autographed football and prizes for best guy/girl costumers. It will be a fun night for a good cause, and a great way to kick off Halloween weekend!
A #MadMenTweetup for the 2010 season premiere of the show was held at a perfect venue, @TheBrownBar, who even opened early for a cocktail hour before the show. About 50 people, most of whom dressed in 1964 attire, showed to watch the episode together.
We were thrilled to be part of the fun little event and hope to see many more themed Tweetups!
