We just love it when two things Austin come together! …and even more so when we’re one of them! tee hee heee! Today, we share the spotlight with the Austinista!
We were thrilled when the Austinista herself asked for some wardrobe shots for her blog where she writes about “Style, Beauty, and Exponential Growth from the Violet Crown” as well as a few other nuggets of goodness. And today is the day she launched a new series.
Christine is a delightful person that I’m proud to call my friend. Go subscribe to her blog. Your wardrobe and makeup collection will thank you!
From the Austinista herself:
“Austinista.net was established in 2013 to share my love of fashion, beauty, the arts, and becoming your best self. There are many roads to empowerment: wearing a favorite shade of lipstick, self reflection, and remembering to take risks in real life.
Over the years, I’ve had many opportunities to explore my love of fashion and beauty. Growing up, my mother taught me to sew my own clothes. As a result, I have a keen eye for silhouette and lines that will make anyone look their best! In my singing career, I’ve had the chance to swap roles and work behind the scenes. I’ve enjoyed my time as a makeup artist for stage and photographers but worked several studio photography jobs.”
We have been involved with Career Connects since the first one three years ago. This year’s event had a special focus on Human Resources professionals and provided some very interesting content. It was our pleasure to be involved once again with this fine event. Kudos to the planning committee for a job well done!
As the event was winding down, the Long Center was coming alive for that night’s show. Austin is such a great place to live and work!

I had a great time with #HRCareerConnects yesterday and learned a lot, too. Images will be ready early next week, but in the mean time, I wanted to share some information that I got a lot of questions about yesterday: portraits.
Whether business headshots, family portraits, or an engagement session, we offer a uniquely customized service so that everything is As You Wish!
- Most sessions are 1 hour: $275.
- We bring the studio to you for unique images in your business setting or in your neighborhood.
- Portrait sessions come with a digital print package of 5 personal images or 1 business image.
- Buddy up and save: grab a friend for the same location and adjoining time slot; you’ll both save 30%.
We believe in keeping it simple and easy.
This week, we are honored to attend and photograph CareerCONNECTS hosted by Austin Human Resource Management Association.
It’s about navigating your career in human resources. The more meaningful connections you can build, the larger your network becomes. It gets easier to find gainful employment and advance your career.
Tickets to this event are only $15 or $35 and the agenda includes 3 workshops and some evening networking. So, whether your resume is well-worn or needs dusting off, join AHRMA and eighteen sponsors for a day of learning.
Finally, if you need an updated headshot for your Linkedin profile, stick around for the Happy Hour. We’ll be snapping freely!
When we learned of the 1K1day event to help women set up WordPress sites for their small businesses, we knew we had to get involved. WordPress is our go-to software for website management for both personal and commercial sites. It’s robust, feature-rich, intuitive, and free. It is constantly getting better with new features and upgrades. Best of all, it’s easy to change the whole look of a site with a few clicks.
As a sponsor for 1K1day, As You Wish donated headshots for participants. These are perfect for the About page of their brand new website. Participants, you can find the “special hotel guest” images at the end of the gallery.
We all owe many thanks to WP Engine for hosting this wonderful event in Austin. Shayda and her team were great to work with. If you are looking for a host for a WordPress website, we highly recommend WP Engine.
Brides, Do you have a killer business idea, but need a website to launch it? Are you overwhelmed at the thought of creating and launching a site?

Kathy was getting ready for her debut as a blogger for B2B Magazine and needed an updated headshot for the gig. We met her at her office so we could photography against several backgrounds in her environment. For this use, we both liked series of her from the building lobby. Doesn’t she have the greatest smile? Oh, and she has a way with words, too: just check this out.
Lara is writing a book and needed some quick headshots to promote the book to potential publishers. While everyone looks good against green, we knew this would be an even better compliment to her curly red hair.
Now, don’t you just want to read every word she puts on the page? I know I do.
Dee has been part of Austin’s comedy scene for a while, but a fresh and updated look was in order. We wandered downtown for a true photowalk and found some hip nooks and crannies….and we laughed our tails off! She is one FUNNY gal!

I always enjoy working with people who are coaches of life. Regardless of their specific niche of the industry and/or their particular technique, they have a fabulous manner about them, communicate really well, and are always so much fun to drag in front of a camera. (Yes, I’m stereotyping….but in a good way!) Donna Lipman exudes friendly and supportive.
I know Donna probably cringed a little when I said, “Let’s try the parking garage”, but the images from that spot were some of my favorites.
This is the one Donna liked best. No, you aren’t seeing triple. I’m showing you the three versions she received with her purchase: an uncropped print-quality image she can give her graphic designer for business cards and brochures, a web image to put on her site, and an avatar for facebook/Twitter and other social media. Of course, her versions come without the logo…that’s just here for my site.
Donna, thank you for a lovely session!
Samantha called us in a bit of a rush for new headshots for her dental practice’s new brochure. So we hopped over to her place, grabbed a few shots and got her favorite one ready for their graphic designer. We had a great time. Don’t you just love her smile?
Samantha, thank you so much for a lovely session. You were great to work with! We are happy to recommend West Family Dentistry to our family and friends.
If you are into women’s fashion at all, you have to follow @SewSister on Twitter. Her custom lingerie is to die for!
Megan needed both headshots and full-length images for an application, so we joined her at her home studio for a fun little session and a secret side project.
While she nervously awaits news from the application, we’ll continue to enjoy all that she has to share on Twitter.
We were lucky to get work with Belinda Mendoza of Design for Energy for some casual headshots for her social media needs. Did you know that Belinda has a history of increasing sales and employee performance at businesses? She can transform your space in ways you’d never consider. The little changes an untrained eye can’t see can make a huge difference in the way your customers feel.
We met Belinda at a Auditorium Shores where we could get into full shade on a bright day with backdrops—though small in headshots—of the Austin skyline and the park’s fountain.
At the same time, we also did another session….but that is for another post!
Thank you, Belinda, for allowing us to be part of your marketing and social media. We are honored to work with you and can’t wait to learn some Feng Shui techniques from you.
(As part of our headshots package, Belinda gets to select any image from the session. We will do a full retouching on that image according to her wishes and present her with a final image and a license for commercial use for both print and electronic needs.)
Jared is one of our Groupon friends. We met downtown for a great wandering photo shoot. We discovered some really cool little spots!
Opal Divine’s (@opaldivines) always has great service. We were there in the middle of the afternoon, so we had plenty of places to work without being in anyone’s way. Opal’s welcomed us warmly.
We also found a couple of really cool doors and entry ways.
Kung Fu Saloon (@kungfusaloon) was fabulous! They are one of the first bars who have TabbedOut for the iPhone. What more could you want: Kung Fu theme, Chuck Norris art, a great selection of beer, a full bar, a great patio, and arcade games like skee ball.
We also found some great sidewalks and alleys along our way.
Our last stop was the south side of the 360 condo. At Garrido’s Modern Mexican Kitchen (@garridos), we found their great patio lounge that is perfect for a margarita at sunset.
Thank you, Jared for a great wandering photo shoot. It was great fun.
