Downtown Round Rock, Texas has a lot of great nooks and crannies for portrait sessions with small groups. And, there is a big green field with a pretty wall that makes a perfect backdrop for sitting poses.

Chris and Whitney found us on Yelp! and contacted me with an urgent portrait session while all the family was in town. The calendar worked in our favor, so we were able to accommodate them during the window of availability.

Shannon wanted something unique for their family images. After getting rained out, we ended up at their venue on a rainy day, anyway. (No complaints here. I remember how bad/dry last summer was!) We had fun dodging rain drops and crafting photo spots out of corners of the place. Big huge thanks to Spider House for letting us play in your space.

The Stone family was getting ready for their summer vacation, but took a few minutes out of their day to strike a pose or two.

We had so much fun with the Taylors for their family portrait session. It was a brutally hot afternoon, but their laughter and antics kept all of us smiling for the entire session.

The Hargraves have grown their family by one and needed to update family portraits. We had a lovely cloudy day to work with…and the kids were very patient with us and all the hassle of portraits.

The Bauers were so excited to show off the new park–Bee Caves—by their home. It has some great playscapes, nice pavilions, and wonderful hike/bike trails. If you are in this area of town, it’s great for an impromptu family gathering.

We’ve made pretty heavy use of Mayfield Park this year and for good reason: the place is gorgeous. So, it was a ton of fun to share this special spot with the Moskal family. They’d never been there and we had loads of fun in the various spaces and even played a fun photo game of “Where’s Waldo?”

One of our favorite picturesque locations in all of Austin is St. Edward’s University.[1] The grounds are immaculate and the staff is as friendly as can be. All they ask for portraits is a call ahead to make sure they don’t have a major event. So, that is where we met the Norman family.

“It has to be said”[2] they followed our “rules” as closely as possible. Everyone arrived in either jeans or khaki pants wearing a pastel colored long sleeve top. Given the weather in central Texas in the late Spring, this was no easy feat. However, everyone—regardless of age—was a trooper. And, aren’t they more attractive for it?

[1] We learned of the beautiful campus from our volunteer efforts with Knowbility.org and their Access U program held annually at St. Ed’s.
[2] “It has to be said,” is a catch phrase of the Fantoo Girls, of which we are dear fans.

For their wedding anniversary, the Butler’s wanted updated family portraits with both their kids and both sets of their parents.

We met at one of our favorite portrait locations: Mayfield Park. While the peacocks can get loud at times, they are beautiful and you run about a 50% chance of getting to see one fan his feathers.

What a treat to photograph three generations of Russells in their backyard with a view of the lake. We were a bit challenged by the weather, but we all made the best of it and had fun, too! Besides, all those clouds made for some very soft light for the session.

Wow! What a pretty drive out to Spicewood, Texas and to the little neighborhood where Sylvia & Jason live! They have a dock and wanted to be sure to include some shots on their waterfront. This made for a very personal on-location portrait session. We even got a few of them in their kyacks. What fun!

Melynda bought a Groupon from us back in January. When she asked if she could save it for a maternity/family session, I told her about our Womb-to-Bloom package and let her use the Groupon toward that. It’s a win-win!

Their daughter and son-to-be both have E names, so that makes us smile!
