“I started my company, Regain Your Space, because I love helping people who want to enhance and de-stress their lives. By decluttering and organizing your space and using the skills that I will teach you, your life will be so much more productive and functional. Once you get organized, I’ll help you stay organized. ‘Every journey begins with but a single step.’ (Chinese proverb). Take that step now.”

Amy von Andrian, AVA Designs

[Amy is next up in our series of from Austin’s chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers.]

Amy specializes in staging homes to maximize sale prices for owners and to help homes sell more quickly. She’s also skilled at general organizing, re-designing, and lighting. Amy sports a fabulous attention to detail that will take your home to the next level…whether that’s for you or for potential buyers.

Staging Sells! – Staging is not an option.

It’s a competitive market in todays economy — buyers expect homes to be ‘staged’. Often these homes project more selling power and sales price! Don’t put your home on the market without me! Too many objects detracts from the home and confuses buyers. The first step to listing your home is to prepare the exterior for great curb appeal. Interior changes make a good first impression. By removing and repositioning furniture, the buyer will see your architectural details and focal points of each room. Having years of experience, I can create an openness and appealing look buyers require. On vacant homes it is just as important to place some furniture and accessories in areas that show the buyer what the potential layout can be. Vignette staging is available for these homes with my inventory constantly changing to keep up with the new trends.”

Jennifer Lava, Professional Organizer

As part of our professional headshots package, we like to share a little about our business-owner clients along with their retouched image. First up is Jennifer, who organized the kickbutt headshots for Austin’s chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers. Thank you for all your hard work on the dual event, Jennifer!

Jennifer Lava is a Professional Organizer who specializes in working with creatives and their unique organizing challenges. We met Jennifer back in 2009 and have really enjoyed getting to know more about her and her work over the years. If you are overwhelmed by any of your stuff at home or work, give Jennifer a call. Her sweet nature and calm demeanor will put you right at ease.

Creative professional organizing for creative people

I work with creative, and not so creative, people who are ready for a one-of-a-kind organizing system for their home or office that reflects their uniqueness.

  • If you are feeling overwhelmed, I will help you be more at ease in your space.
  • If you can’t find your stuff, we will craft a system together that will make it simple.
  • If you can’t work the way you want to, we will develop a system that allows for you to be as organized and productive as you want to be.
  • If you are moving, I will help you make your house presentable for sale. I will help you save money on moving costs. I will help you unpack in your new space and set up new systems to get you off on the right foot.
  • If you need more space where you are, we will work together to reclaim the square footage you have been losing to clutter.

I can save you time, by creating a system that will make your processes easier and eliminate the time wasted by looking for the things you own, and I will save you money, by making it easier to find the things you own so you don’t have to repurchase them. By making your bill paying system easier, you don’t waste money on late fees. And I have an extensive list of resources and contacts that I enjoy using to help people solve their problems and dilemmas, and receive discounts at several retailers that sell organizing products and tools that I am happy to pass along to my clients.

You can learn more about Jennifer in Austin Monthly Magazine, Healthy Living Made Simple (Sam’s Club) Magazine, and of course, on Jennifer’s site: and blog.

We just love it when two things Austin come together! …and even more so when we’re one of them! tee hee heee! 🙂 Today, we share the spotlight with the Austinista!

We were thrilled when the Austinista herself asked for some wardrobe shots for her blog where she writes about “Style, Beauty, and Exponential Growth from the Violet Crown” as well as a few other nuggets of goodness. And today is the day she launched a new series.

Christine is a delightful person that I’m proud to call my friend. Go subscribe to her blog. Your wardrobe and makeup collection will thank you!

From the Austinista herself:

“ was established in 2013 to share my love of fashion, beauty, the arts, and becoming your best self.  There are many roads to empowerment: wearing a favorite shade of lipstick, self reflection, and remembering to take risks in real life.

Over the years, I’ve had many opportunities to explore my love of fashion and beauty.  Growing up, my mother taught me to sew my own clothes. As a result, I have a keen eye for silhouette and lines that will make anyone look their best!  In my singing career, I’ve had the chance to swap roles and work behind the scenes. I’ve enjoyed my time as a makeup artist for stage and photographers but worked several studio photography jobs.”

HR Career Connects

We have been involved with Career Connects since the first one three years ago. This year’s event had a special focus on Human Resources professionals and provided some very interesting content. It was our pleasure to be involved once again with this fine event. Kudos to the planning committee for a job well done!

As the event was winding down, the Long Center was coming alive for that night’s show. Austin is such a great place to live and work!

1K1day event with headshots by As You Wish

When we learned of the 1K1day event to help women set up WordPress sites for their small businesses, we knew we had to get involved. WordPress is our go-to software for website management for both personal and commercial sites. It’s robust, feature-rich, intuitive, and free. It is constantly getting better with new features and upgrades. Best of all, it’s easy to change the whole look of a site with a few clicks.

As a sponsor for 1K1day, As You Wish donated headshots for participants. These are perfect for the About page of their brand new website. Participants, you can find the “special hotel guest” images at the end of the gallery. 😉

We all owe many thanks to WP Engine for hosting this wonderful event in Austin. Shayda and her team were great to work with. If you are looking for a host for a WordPress website, we highly recommend WP Engine.

Bollywood by Room to Read Austin

We just love the Bollywood event hosted by the Austin chapter of Room to Read. This annual event raises money to build a library in India and gives girls, in particular, access to education and learning.

This fun event features Indian food, music, art, and dance. And, in just a few short hours, the event raised almost enough money for an entire library!

Kudos, Room to Read Austin! Good work.

WEC Talent Connect

The WilCo Entrepreneurs Community hosts a regular Talent Connect event where job-searching candidates give a 90-second speed pitch to companies with openings. Recruiters use the pitches and resumes together to decide who they will bring in for the live interviews. It’s a pretty novel concept, so this event was buzzing with activity.
