We just love the Bollywood event hosted by the Austin chapter of Room to Read. This annual event raises money to build a library in India and gives girls, in particular, access to education and learning.

This fun event features Indian food, music, art, and dance. And, in just a few short hours, the event raised almost enough money for an entire library!

Kudos, Room to Read Austin! Good work.

The lovely ladies of the University of Texas chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha hold Crown Cookoff, an annual salsa competition. It’s a fun way to be on campus on a pretty (albeit windy) day and raise money for breast cancer research and support!

My dear ZTA sisters, thank you for allowing me to be part of your lovely event! zlam!

The WilCo Entrepreneurs Community hosts a regular Talent Connect event where job-searching candidates give a 90-second speed pitch to companies with openings. Recruiters use the pitches and resumes together to decide who they will bring in for the live interviews. It’s a pretty novel concept, so this event was buzzing with activity.

This was our second year to participate in the Austin Twestival. We were honored to be part of an event designed to raise funds for Meals On Wheels And More!

“…we raised $1,075, which equates to more than 400 meals for MOWAM clients! Best of all, we had fun doing it.
For those who would still like to make a donation to MOWAM, please know that our donation site should remain open till March 31st.
Thanks again for supporting Austin Twestival. Every contribution you made, every dollar you gave and every message you sent out on Facebook and Twitter helped MOWAM in a special way. Hats off to you.”

Thank you to all the Twestival volunteers for your time and efforts with the event.

We’ll post images from the photobooth soon!

Hooray for Bollywood!

Bollywood Nights, presented by Room to Read Austin and hosted by Clay Pit enjoyed a large turnout and had a fantastic energy!

Thanks to the great auction items and generous donors, the event raised enough to build a library in India, which will support almost 350 boys and girls with colorful picture books published in their local language, educational games, and a safe, fun place to learn!

Room to Read offers special thanks to the following people:

  • Bali Singh and the Clay Pit staff for their generous donation of the venue, delicious food, and 75% of the bar tab
  • Mansi and Sargam dance studio for their performance and Bollywood lessons
  • Nisha for amazing henna artwork
  • Lori Luza from As You Wish Photography
  • And our silent auction donors

Megan needed both headshots and full-length images for an application, so we joined her at her home studio for a fun little session and a secret side project.

While she nervously awaits news from the application, we’ll continue to enjoy all that she has to share on Twitter.

The Austin Area Alumnae chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha has a wonderful monthly gathering called Yaps & Apps. We share appetizers and spend a couple of hours catching up on one another’s lives. It’s a great way to unwind.

We donated a gift certificate for a portrait session to the Davis Elementary School fundraiser in early March. Well, we just got the final total and learned that they raised over $20,000 for the Davis PTA and to support programs at the school.

Congratulations, Davis PTA, on such a successful event.
